DESCRIPTION: (20 foot diameter) This circular floor medallion is located along the Departure Level Concourse.
"In an airport, the adventure and fun of travel should be celebrated as much as where one is traveling to or from. This design would be a fanciful airborne piece that to me speaks of the upward opportunity, hope and can-do spirit that is Dallas. As a child, I grew up watching for the flying red horse at the top of the city. To me, that meant Dallas could fly!"
BIOGRAPHY: Received a BFA in painting and sculpture from the University of Texas and studied sculpture under Octavio Medellin for six years. Hearst has served as board president for D’Art, a visual art center for Dallas and has been involved in historic preservation in the State-Thomas Historic District of Dallas. Her preservation efforts have been chronicled by HGTV in a 2000 documentary. Hearst is the daughter of a pilot and was drawn to this project because of that connection. Hearst currently resides in Dallas, Texas.
