DFW AIRPORT, Texas (Jan. 24, 2025)
Starting Saturday, Jan. 25 through Wednesday, Jan. 29, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is implementing temporary road closures and lane reductions at various locations and times to support key construction activity. The work zones will primarily impact southbound traffic with one of the most significant impacts expected to be an overnight-to-midday lane reduction on South International Parkway from Tuesday evening into Wednesday afternoon. During that time, customers are encouraged to arrive to DFW from the south. For other closures, detours will be in place to support traffic movement.
The upcoming construction activity will support the placement of structural beams for the future bridge access into Terminal B as part of the ongoing work to transform access to Terminals A, B and C to right-hand exits. This grouping of closures has been strategically phased with project partners and airport stakeholders to take place during timeframes with the least impact to customers.
Closure Dates, Times and Locations
International Parkway is the airport’s main throughfare providing customers access to all terminals via Entry and Exit Plazas, while DFW’s adjacent Service Roads provide throughfare and access to facilities outside of the central terminal area.
How Customers Can Prepare for Travel
DFW continues to grow and is anticipating another busy year, especially during peak holiday travel periods. Customers can directly influence their travel experience with the following tips:
- Arrive early: Plan to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights to allow time for parking, check-in, and security screening.
- Be traffic aware: Use traffic apps to check road conditions and build in appropriate transit times to arrive at the airport ahead of your flight.
- Follow curbside rules: Curbside areas are designated for active loading and unloading only. Traffic waiting for arriving passengers should use the cell phone lots until their traveling party is ready for curbside pickup.
- Use public transit: Avoid the roads completely by using one of several public transit options to and from DFW, including DART, TEXRail and TRE.
