While only two U.S. airports have made the investment in a cargo community system, DFW has taken the lead when measured by the air cargo community’s engagement. DFW has recruited and gained commitment from 10 cargo airlines, 5 ground handlers, 8 freight forwarders and 6 trucking companies, all working collaboratively resulting in over 110 truck slot bookings per week. This has resulted in record speed recovery times of less than 30 minutes in some cases and has dramatically reduced trucking queues and wait times for truckers, further reducing valuable down time of resources and truck emissions which contribute to our sustainability goals. This is the way of the future for cargo airports that are dedicated to improving efficiency for all stakeholders while remaining committed stewards of the environment. A big shout out to all the stakeholders that have joined and engaged the DFW Cargo Cloud and an equally big shout out to our Cargo Cloud leaders Bill Nesbitt and Karen Herberger.
