DFW AIRPORT, Texas – May 28, 2021 – Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport’s Department of Public Safety Headquarters is already recognized as technologically advanced and highly operational with plenty of room for grow for years to come. Now, the Airport’s first-ever design-build project since Terminal D is getting top honors at the national level.
In November 2020, the DPS HQ project earned the recipient of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) National Award of Excellence in Aviation. The award specifically recognized the Airport’s design-build process, through which its project team, contractor JE Dunn Construction and architect PGA, for:
“The designer and contractor work together from the beginning, as a team, providing unified project recommendations to fit the owner's schedule and budget. Any changes are addressed by the entire team, leading to collaborative problem-solving and innovation, not excuses or blame-shifting. While single-source contracting is the fundamental difference between design-build and the old ways, equally important is the culture of collaboration inherent in design-build.”
Earlier, in September 2020, DBIA awarded the DPS HQ project with the National Award of Merit in Aviation. By receiving this award, the project was then able to be considered for the National Award of Excellence – the DBIA’s top prize.
