DFW Airport is the 2nd busiest Airport in the world and is larger than the island of Manhattan. An Airport this size is great for getting you to your destination. As a large Airport, here are some travel tips to help you navigate through DFW easily and spend more time relaxing at your gate.
Before You Arrive
Be sure to arrive at least 2 hours early for a domestic or international flight. You can find your gate information from your Airline or from the DFW Airport App.
Plan your journey – Using the Plan page on DFW Airport’s website, you can find information on Airlines, security checkpoints, and other passenger amenities.
Check Parking Lot Status – On the DFW Airport website, you can check the availability of parking garages in real-time by visiting here.
Book Your Parking Early - You can prebook a parking spot early by visiting our prebooked parking page. Customers can potentially receive a discount of up to 50% based on which lot they wish to park in.
Arriving at DFW Airport
Ticketing Counters – Be sure to check with your airline on any special check-in requirements. All ticket counters are on the upper level of the terminals.
Security Checkpoints – Using the DFW Airport app, or the website, you can view security wait times and the location of TSA Pre-Check and CLEAR lines. Each checkpoint also has wait information displayed above and the wait times of nearby checkpoints. You can skip the line by using the DFW Airport Fast Pass. This pass lets you select an appointment time to go through TSA Screening. You can learn more about the pass here.
The TSA’s Website has a travel checklist to make sure you can breeze through security.
After Security
Once you have passed security, now this is the time to relax! DFW Airport offers many amenities for all our travelers. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, some shopping, or just a quiet place to catch up on work, we have it all.
Airport Amenities – The DFW Airport App will be your best guide within the terminals. With this App, you can find which concessions are near you. Additionally, you can order your meal with participating concessions and pick it up before your flight. Head to dfwordernow.com on your mobile device.
Family Amenities – Traveling with the family can be tough, especially as you try and get everyone in before your flight. We offer some family-friendly amenities, including play areas, nursing rooms, and an art program for all families. Visit our family-friendly page here.
Connections & Terminal Transfers – If you are connecting at DFW, or need to change terminals, you can use our Skylink train which connects you to all five terminals after security. The Skylink train runs every two minutes, with an average ride time of five minutes. Each terminal has two stops on the train.
Returning to DFW
If you parked in the terminal garages, there is a chance your return may bring you to a different terminal. If you did not check a bag, you can use the Skylink train to get back to where you parked.
However, if you did check a bag, check out our Terminal Two-Step guide for a tip to get you reunited with your bag and your parked car.
Alternatively, there is the Terminal Link shuttle outside of security that will connect you to all five terminals. When you get to the shuttle stop, scan the QR code to find out when the next shuttle will arrive.
If you parked in either the Remote or Express lots, simply collect your belongings and follow the signs to the appropriate shuttle stop.
