Fire Training Research Center

The Global Leader in Fire Training

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is home to the Fire Training Research Center (FTRC), a state-of-the-art facility managed through the Department of Public Safety.

The FTRC has an established reputation of producing cutting-edge knowledge and sharing that with emergency first responders around the globe. By removing geographical, financial, social, and cultural barriers that traditionally limit access to education, we are continually transforming training. Firefighters have access to quality post-secondary education through a variety of innovative products and services. The flexibility of the Fire Training Research Network (FTRN) distance and online training programs allow students to obtain a quality education from virtually any location.

Approaching its 30th year, the FTRC stands out as the world's foremost and fastest growing online, distance learning, and research facility for firefighters. Serving more than 37,000 students worldwide, the FTRC is the global leader in Fire Training. The training center offers over 20 courses and has instructed students from 48 states and 54 countries.

Aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) is a specialized category of firefighting that involves emergency response, hazard mitigation, evacuation, rescue, and emergency medical treatment of passengers and crew involved in airport ground emergencies. Airport firefighters utilize specialized ARFF training and equipment to address the specific challenges an aviation environment can present.
