Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

DFW International Airport is proud to be a part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. Through this voluntary program, participants can wear a sunflower lanyard which designates they have a hidden disability. This will let airport staff know that they may need extra assistance going through the airport.

To request a Sunflower Lanyard, please fill out this form.

What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower?

Some disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses are not immediately evident to others. This can make it difficult for some people to understand someone with a “non-visible” condition may need support.

That is why the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower was created - to encourage inclusivity, acceptance and understanding.

It is a simple way to share you have a hidden disability voluntarily. By wearing the Sunflower, you’re just letting everyone know you might need extra help, understanding, or more time.

How does the program work?

Passengers with a hidden disability may wear a Sunflower lanyard to voluntarily and discreetly indicate they need extra assistance or time. Airport staff are trained to recognize the Sunflower lanyard and are available to aid and support as needed.

Where can I get a Sunflower Lanyard?

Sunflower lanyards are available from DFW free of charge for either delivery or pick up. To request a Sunflower Lanyard, please fill out this form.

Lanyard requests can also be made in advance by contacting the Risk Management office:

For delivery, lanyards will be mailed to the requestor via U.S. Mail postal service. Please allow at least 14 business days for delivery prior to travel date. Lanyards will only be mailed by U.S. Mail. No expedited shipping available. DFW is not responsible for mail carrier delays.

Lanyards are also available for pick up in person at the airport at two different locations*:

  • DFW International Airport Customer Experience Office
2141 South International Parkway, Terminal B43 Upper Level
    Dallas, TX 75261

Open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • DFW Airport Headquarters Building - Risk Management
(Location is near South Airport entrance/exit)
    2400 Aviation Dr
    DFW Airport, TX 75261

Open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

*Staff will notify you when items are ready for pick-up. If picking up on the same day as travel, please allow additional time for commute to terminal of departure.

PLEASE NOTE: Both the Customer Experience Office and DFW Airport Headquarters are located pre-security, so you will need to pick up your lanyard before going through TSA if you are traveling that same day. Otherwise, you will have to go through screening again.
